australia pictures - part 3

we rode on the world's longest gondola cableway (skyrail over kuranda rainforest)

then hiked through the world's oldest rainforest (daintree)

and had a rare run-in with the world's most dangerous bird (a cassowary). our guide was freaked out. after reading the wikipedia entry now i know why..."A cassowary's three-toed feet have sharp claws; the dagger-like middle claw is 5 inches long. This claw is particularly dangerous since the Cassowary can use it to kill an enemy, disemboweling it with a single kick. They can run up to 32 mph through the dense forest. They can jump up to 5 feet and they are good swimmers."

me + a speckled hen ale, waiting for dinner at the spotted pig

i've been waiting to try this place for a while and the food did not disappoint. crispy pig's ear and ricotta gnudi below. i also suggest the chicken liver toast, roquefort burger and shoestring fries

phillippe starck's elevator walls at the hudson hotel. coming to your town soon in plastic form at the local pinkberry knock-off

tux'd up for the wedding

in other news, grace and i finished our move down to stanford. being back on campus is a mixed bag of weird, comforting and cramped (grad student apt = tiny). i'll post some pics of our new place once it's looking more respectable.
