australia pictures - part 3

we rode on the world's longest gondola cableway (skyrail over kuranda rainforest)

then hiked through the world's oldest rainforest (daintree)

and had a rare run-in with the world's most dangerous bird (a cassowary). our guide was freaked out. after reading the wikipedia entry now i know why..."A cassowary's three-toed feet have sharp claws; the dagger-like middle claw is 5 inches long. This claw is particularly dangerous since the Cassowary can use it to kill an enemy, disemboweling it with a single kick. They can run up to 32 mph through the dense forest. They can jump up to 5 feet and they are good swimmers."
