japan pictures - part 1

part 1 - pictures from tokyo, fuji and hakone...

we really lucked out and timed our trip perfectly with the cherry blossom bloom. sakura and picnickers at shinjuku-gyoen park






during bloom, the japanese throw big parties under cherry blossom trees. parties by lantern light at ueno park

on the second day of the trip, we took a bus to the fuji five lakes region. views of mt fuji via cable car




on day four, we took a day trip to hakone because grace wanted to visit an onsen (traditional japanese spa). we ended up finding a ridiculously nice one

first meal in japan always has to be ramen


grace and i quickly discovered mochi cream, boutiques in tokyo that sell really tasty ice cream filled mochi.


house noodles at chen kenichi's restaurant. high on my list of best noodle experiences


we waited two hours at one of the more famous restaurants at tsukiji for a sushi breakfast

chankonabe dinner with fu. chankonabe is a tradtional stew for sumo wrestlers, similar to hotpot
