tokyo
earlier this month i spent a week working in tokyo. man i love japan...must find more excuses to travel there for business. some pics
view of shibuya from my hotel room
a couple friends happened to be in tokyo at the same time. dinner with fu and jess
green tea donuts = good way to start the day
dinner at gonpachi. this restaurant was tarantino's inspiration for the crazy88 fight scene in kill bill
cheese ramen at tsukumo. yes that's grated parm cheese on normal ramen. trust me - it's freakin good. i didn't have time to try ice cream ramen though...
teppanyaki (think benihana's but without the show) is a really tasty way to eat kobe beef. but the real genius of this place is that they use pieces of toast instead of plates. why? your toast sucks up all of your excess kobe beef juice and you end the meal with a buttery, meat-juiced piece of toasty-goodness
view of the imperial palace
fu and i spent an afternoon geeking out in akihabra. electronics, video games and anime as far as the eye could see. including...
...a store packed with original transformer toys...
...and a crazy gundam videogame where you sit in a life-sized mecha cockpit. the arcade we went to had 6 of these networked together. we tried playing but our performance must have looked pretty shameful given the japanese-only instructions
random sign in akihabra i wish i could see lit up
obligatory pic of the shibuya scramble
