vacation pics - morocco
djemaa el fna (the main square in marrakesh). a chaotic mix of food stalls, peddlers, snake charmers, story-tellers...
...and ingenious games like coke-fishing. the square was a fitting intro to africa and definitely one of my favorite parts of the trip.

driving through the atlas mountains on the way to the sahara
on the way we drove through the "valley of a thousand kasbahs" with literally hundreds of small towns scattered across the mountain-sides. this one was in lawrence of arabia and the gladiator
this sign says "52 days to Timbuktu". pretty crazy.
we spent a couple nights in the sahara around some huge sand dunes
try to spot the person on top of the dune. that's right...it's that tall.
grace and i sporting our berber desert headgear
our rides
trekking through the sahara
our "tent"
sahara at sunrise
detail of sand
my favorite pic of the trip
