a mini movie rant
in case you haven't heard, innocence (ghost in the shell 2) premieres today. go here to see if it's showing near you and to watch the trailer. i'm a little worried about the obtrusiveness of oshii's cg usage but i'll try to reserve judgment until i see it.

sky captain also premieres today. while i'm on the topic of cg...correct me if i'm wrong but i think it'll be the first live-action movie to use cg in every frame (episode one came close).
and speaking of lucas, i'm getting kinda annoyed that everyone's hyping next week's star wars dvd release. i hope everyone knows these are the re-release versions that he completely screwed up. i'll be interested to see if lucas repeats his mistake in the re-release of THX 1138.
i like the renewed interest in retro-sci-fi style seen in sky captain, steam boy and cassern. good homage to fritz lang's metropolis. but i still think jeunet and caro did it best in city of lost children.

i saw sky captain with cheng... it was great. the music added much to the movie; i loved it.
as for the first all cg movie - check http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0346156/trivia. casshern might actually take the cake.
gonna watch gits2 with cheng and maggie tonight, should be fun. -tiembo

innocence was amazing. you've got to watch it on the big screen.
