nyc travel horror

sorry for the posting draught everyone. grace still doesn't have internet at her place and i've been in nyc for the last couple days.

overall it was a great trip. but for some reason i always have nyc travel horror stories... like last winter during the goldman conference when there was a freakin blizzard...1 hour cab ride just to get out of manhattan from times square, another 2 hours to get to jfk, and three flight changes in order to score one of the last seats on the last non-cancelled flight back to sfo... it was worth it though...i was coming back for one *very* important reason... =)

last night there was flash-flooding in nyc. in some places water was waist-high. you can somewhat see it in this pic

my flight was delayed 6 hours. i landed at 5am this morning. not pleasant...but it wouldn't of been half as bad if they had told us upfront the delay would be that long. instead every 30 minutes or so they'd announce a new reason prompting another delay...

-our plane was diverted to boston...
-someone forgot to re-direct our boston plane to jfk...
-there's no gate for the boston plane to taxi to...
-no one will authorize our plane to go to sfo...
-no one can find another plane for us to take...

towards the end the excuses got ridiculous. "sorry for the delay...there are no pillows and blankets on your plane. we're trying to locate some."

people were starting to get somewhat violent. i saw this granny basically shove a teenager to get ahead of him during boarding. funny stuff.

it's good to be back.
