ok i'll admit he's also had some misses - death warrant, kickboxer 2, the puppet masters - but check out his upcoming projects:
 
-blade trinity.  not only writing but also directing this one.  del toro set a pretty high bar in the sequel and the new trailer drops a couple storyline hints that aren't inspiring (blade vs. dracula?).  i'll let you decide yourself how trinity looks.  personally i'm not that excited to watch van wilder and the 7th heaven chick fight along blade but i'm still trying to keep the faith.
-batman begins.  writing (along with some character design help, no doubt).  christian bale (kid in empire of the sun, american psycho) is starring and chris nolan (momento, insomnia - us version) is directing.  should be interesting baring any more pre-production changes.
