if you dont know kitamura, you're missing out.  think genre-blending, hyper-stylized, high energy (and gory) cinema at its best.  he's the writer/director of Versus, Azumi and Aragami and producer of Battlefield Baseball.

interview highlight: (on Tak Sakaguchi, lead for Versus)
"I hear you met your lead actor Tak Sakaguchi while he was fighting in the street."
"Yeah, that's true. He's a streetfighter. He fought with a bear once, and won. Otherwise he would be dead now, of course (laughs). He fought a crocodile, he even fought a bull (laughs). He's a real fighter. He's just like he is in Versus, he's a crazy guy, but I love him."

after godzilla, kitamura's coming to the US.  *fingers crossed* he doesn't pull a jacky chen or john woo...(i have the right to say that - i watched the tuxedo and paycheck...)
