-goldman sachs has received political approval to become the first US bank to create a banking joint-venture in china. this brings goldman one step closer to becoming the first foreign firm capable of arranging equity and bond deals in China through a self-controlled, self-branded vehicle. the deal now needs to be approved by financial regulators

-daum (korea's largest internet portal) has agreed to buy lycos from terra lycos

-electronic arts has acquired european games developer criterion software. ea gains some popular video game titles but more importantly now also owns criterion's renderware - a development platform that over 20% of ea's competitors use
